Questionnaire Rationale To help obtain the research objectives, the following is the rationale for 18 open ended questionnaire which are subdivided in three parts. The first part aims at obtaining the views of the students based on a number of aspects of Facebook as tool for enhancing learning. The second part aims obtaining students’ beliefs and the third part aims at getting students perception regarding aspects of Facebook as a learning enhancement tool. Students’ View Under the students’ view, a number of questions will be asked. The first one is how Facebook could explain learning. The purpose of asking this question is to establish whether students are able to connect the usefulness of Facebook and learning. According to Bednar (2010), technological developments in educational sector happen almost frequently but applicable they become to learners matters a lot. The second question is the purpose of Facebook in the context of education. The rationale here is basically to get the view of students regarding the main purpose of Facebook. Do they find it highly applicable in education or it is just a social networking tool; that is, how has education developed with the advent of Facebook or how might it develop (Lammaren and Molendjik, 2004). This question will further show how students appreciate and integrate technology in their learning endeavors (Regina, 2010). The third question under this category concerns the extent to which Facebook may enhance students’ self-efficacy and prepare them in their learning. The rationale behind this question is based on assertions of Wankel, Marovich & Stanaityte (2010) that education is important and thus students should understand the importance and usefulness of any technology introduced in ensuring that the students achieves their needs. In light of this, students might have to slightly indicate the usefulness of Facebook in their learning endeavours and this will lay the foundations in which the research will be conclusive and addresses the important factors (Lammaren and Molendjik, 2004). The fourth question in this section relates to students’ perception on the usefulness of Facebook. The rationale here is to get an understanding of students’ level of application of Facebook in their learning which will dictate how useful Facebook is to them. The research highly depends on the response gotten from this particular question for purposes of theoretical formulation. The fifth question intends to get students view on the perceived usefulness of Facebook as a learning tool. The rationale is to gauge every student’s perception and come up with a conclusive view. Lastly under this section students’ own view concerning how they value Facebook will be established. This is to get an in depth opinion of student based on the value they have attached to Facebook for learning purposes. Students Beliefs This questionnaire section (students’ beliefs) is intended to basically support the students’ views in understanding the importance of Facebook, and how Facebook will be used to understand learning. The first question concerns the students’ belief on the capability of Facebook towards explaining learning. The rationale is behind this is to get their coherent feeling towards Facebook as regards education explanation. Having a view on this aspect is one thing and drawing a clear belief standpoint on the same is another thing. In other words, the research will seek to ascertain whether the view they hold regarding Facebook explanation of education is commensurate with their belief (IPM Kidwise, 2004). Secondly, do their belief regarding the purpose of Facebook in the context of education supported by their view on the same. The rationale behind this is to gauge whether students truly belief in the stipulated purpose of Facebook as a technology towards education or rather what is their belief status on the same context? Accordingly, beliefs on Facebook and its purpose present a prospect for the respondents to establish whether they have poise in utilising the technology in contribution of their learning requirements. On the same note, the questionnaire will seek to find out if the students have a strong sense of belief that their confidence in learning will be enhanced by Facebook. As Wankel (2011) notes, technology ought to instil a sense of confidence to learners that their learning process will be enhanced. It is on this basis that the question is formulated so that the objective of the research study is attained. This will in turn indicate the students’ belief on their perceived usefulness of Facebook for learning which will be part of research questionnaire as the fourth question. The rationale as well is to get an informed sense of belief on the usefulness of Facebook towards learning by the student. The fifth question under this section is to get students’ belief regarding the perceived usefulness of Facebook. The rationale behind this questionnaire is to help the students merge their views with their beliefs regarding the perceived importance of Facebook. Lastly students belief about the value of using Facebook will be asked so that the study may establish their strong belief in the value they attach to Facebook; is Facebook that valuable in their education? Students’ Perceptions Students’ view, belief towards Facebook ability to support learning is not enough to ensure the attainment of the objective of this research study. In order that the objective of the research is attained, students’ perception on the same is needed. Therefore this questionnaire section delves into establishing the perception of students on Facebook based on a number of aspects. Therefore, as a first question to hold up the beliefs and views of students, they will be asked about how they perceive Facebook in the direction of learning and in this sense the rationale is to get students’ to verify whether Facebook elucidates learning (Mitchell, 2010). Secondly, this will be further cemented by students giving their perception on the purpose of Facebook as regards education and how their confidence is enhanced. Thirdly, students will be asked about their perception of how Facebook enhance self-efficacy. The rationale is to understand if their perceptions are compatible with their views and beliefs regarding this aspect. The fourth question seeks to get students perception regarding the ability of Facebook to prepare students for learning. The rationale is to find out whether students are able to apply Facebook in their learning and preparations. The fifth question intends to get the students perception regarding the perceived usefulness of Facebook. The rationale is to get the overall perception of students towards technology in particular Facebook and its relevance to education. Lastly, students’ perception regarding their extent to which they value Facebook in learning will be asked. This is to get how their views and beliefs lead to their own perception regarding the value of Facebook in learning. All these three questionnaire aspects will be useful towards attaining the objective of the study as well helping in developing a theoretical concept regarding technology application in education.
