Argument Paper There have been rigorous arguments regarding the top universities in the world, as these universities are unable to provide excellent professionals to the corporate world. Identifiably, the inefficient and ineffective coursework provided in the universities has no value in the professional domain. In this regard, the paper reveals some of the strong arguments that are not in favor of the top universities providing professional skill to the students. While some of the points are contradictory to the stated arguments. The objective behind the argumentative paper is to reveal some of the arguments that are not in favor of the higher universities providing better jobs. One of the significant arguments that support the thesis is that students who have received higher degree from the top universities fail to possess adequate practical knowledge of the professional world. Moreover, it is to be noted that students also fail to gather the essential practical experiences from the universities that are required in the professional domain. Although, the universities provide a basic understanding of the subjects but it fails to provide the holistic knowledge that is helpful for the professional tasks (“The Knowledge-Based Economy”). This is prominently observed among the financial management students. Universities provide all the basic knowledge of stock share trading to students, but through this knowledge the student would not be able to operate the trading in the corporate. This is because students might be unaware of the recent stock values, recent trend and many more. This would not make the student as efficient as an experience candidate even though he/she possesses a higher degree from some of the top universities of the world. Therefore, it can be stated that lack of practical knowledge and exposure is one of the reason to why students are unable to perform effectively in the corporate even though they have degrees (“The Knowledge-Based Economy”). Another important aspect of argument that is in favor of the thesis is that universities can provide technical and fundamental knowledge to the students. However, it is to be noted that the skills that are inborn in nature, cannot be nurtured or enhanced by proper supplement of knowledge from the universities. Therefore, this would lead student to be deprived of a good jobs as their talent is not enhanced by universities. Also, the lack of expertise skills might result in underpaid salary as compared to a student who has lower marks. In the professional world, the requirement of skill along with the knowledge towards the task is important. Besides these the most important criteria is the execution of the task that are required to be done in a professional environment. This execution of task that would result into the objective of the organization and the individual itself depends upon the inborn skill that he/she possesses (“What are essential skills?”). Top universities of the world are capable of providing adequate knowledge to student, but are incapable of developing the inborn skill of students. This is evident from some of the students of marketing management in top management universities of the world. There are some of students who possess a decent knowledge of marketing management, but are incapable of getting a better job during the campus recruitment or other recruitment processes. This is because the employers want an employee to possess the ability to perform the marketing task, which requires a suffice amount of inborn skill, which is nurtured and groomed effectively (“What are essential skills?”). Besides the above two arguments there is one more vital aspect that supports the thesis. This is that the students of the top universities of the world lack the professional courtesy, which is essential for the corporate organizations. Professional courtesy is the special privilege offered by a professional to another in the same organization as a substance of support, respect and unity. This professional courtesy uplifts the co-ordination among the team members and this finally leads the organization to achieve its objectives. Hence, for the growth of an organization, it is very decisive that the employees should possess professional courtesy. However, in several higher universities of the world the students are unaware of the professional courtesy and its importance in the corporate world (“Tenets of Professional Courtesy”). The evidence of professional courtesy is many. This is observed in case of a lawyer who is voluntarily advising his/her colleagues or juniors in a particular legal case of the later. This would lead to mutual bonding and benefit through sharing ideas and thoughts with regards to the several legal cases. However, the students of top universities in the world are rarely observed to be aware of the professional courtesy, which is crucial from the employer’s perspective (McGuigan, McNally and Wyness 1-23). Another concern which provides a strong argument in support of the thesis is that pursuing degree from the top universities of the world has become costly. Moreover, through that degree the student who is serving to an organization is getting an annual salary, which is comparatively less than the amount of annual fees that is being paid by student to the university (Christensen and Henry 47-53). The evidence of underpayment to an employee in comparison to the amount of fees that the employee had paid during the university studies is many. Students of various subjects like engineering, management, literature, and many more are observed to have paid a significant higher amount in their course fees to university. Moreover, the same students although having a degree is unable to get jobs that would suffice their university fees. This is one of the key reasons that some of the banks started avoiding educational loans to the students for higher studies because of the low salary (McGuigan, McNally and Wyness 1-23). There are certain universities of the world that provides students who were excellence in the professional world. The universities do not have to bother about their job because they were well prepared for attaining a job through the educational coursework from the university. The evidence could be of the students of Indian Institute of Management: Ahmadabad and Oxford University, and many more. It is evident that none of the students from those universities or colleges fails to get employed or be an entrepreneur (“Post Graduate Program in Management”). The students from the aforementioned universities and colleges provide do not lack employment. However, they do not possess all the elements that are required by the organization. One of such aspect is the experience that would enhance his/her position. This is the reason behind the students do not get appointed as the top managerial position at the initial stage of his/her career. Moreover, it is also evident that the top universities only admit students who have inborn skill to the subject. Thus, it does not provide an unbiased sample that would judge the argument of universities is providing better paid jobs to the students (“The Future of Employment: How Susceptible is Jobs to Computerization?”). The argument that is suggested in the thesis is that the coursework of the universities not adequate to build the overall professional requirements. Although, some the students of the top universities never get deprived of employment, but it is also evident that they do not get a designation of the top managerial position in the beginning of their career. The reason behind this is the lack of practical knowledge and experience of the student and so also the lack of professional courtesy. Moreover, it is to be noted that higher education at the universities is becoming more costly, which de-motivates the students. Further, one of the crucial aspects is the inability of the universities to develop the inborn skill of the students that would bring job to the student. Thus, it is clear that the higher universities do not provide holistic development of a student to attain a proper job. Moreover, it is the responsibility of the student to develop their skills and knowledge from the university and imply the same to enhance professional skill.
