Ideology and Argument Unlike Rosa Park’s action of not giving up her chair to the whiteman which depicts the power of individual action, these two video’s of Katy Perry “California Girls” pushes forth the Ideology and Argument of the collective ideology of a certain place (California) where it is fun and better than other places. Albeit the lyrics contain sexual innuendos, it argued that “girls” in California are better than other girls on a theme of fun and party. This is better encapsulated in the lyrics“Californi a girlsWe’re unforgettableDaisy DukesBiknis on topSun-kissed skinSo hotWill melt your popsicleOoooh Oh Ooooh”The way discussion and argument changes with time.

During the less forgiving and discriminatory time of Rosa Parks, she might need to be more assertive to push forth her ideology of equality through courage individual courage. It was the time where social justice such as equality mattered a lot. What has to be be fought for during Rosa’s time is already a given today and people are more now preoccupied in making a living and how to have fun. Such, ideas and ideologiessuch as push forth that California and its girls are better than the others are conveyed through the more acceptable medium of today which is the music of pop culture.
