The article pin point that wage earning and opened up economy and society has given rise to such social changes in China. The author reveals that the manipulation of resources by the bureaucrats of the country can be the reason for this social class change in China. New independent entrepreneurs so called “new middle class” have emerged out of such situations. According to author, the professionals are the fourth generation of the rich people while in 1980s agricultural people were the first generation rich people.

It is highly justifiable as China was once an agriculturist country but now has become highly technical and industrial one. The author states that large numbers of middle class people who are professionals are settled in Hopetown area. They are highly educated and are technical, administrative or managerial people. Author declares that during his study of social stratification on Hopetown residents he has realized that privatization of the property is a social actor which determined the social status of a person rather than salary.

The author comments that middle class people have stabilized the social and political status of the country. This is true as the major population of any country is middle class and they have much to contribute to a nation in all regards. The author tells that according to Chinese Academy of Social Science the middle strata can be defined by this six elements a) type of work b) rights and duties of work c) Income d) skills e) Lifestyles, consumption and habits f) moral and civic consciousness.

The author suggest that technically skilled people received better salary and helped in building the living standard of the country. The author suggests that middle class has left much impact on the housing policies. It is true, with a large flow of consistent income middle class can obviously invest in real estate sector.
