s Workplace communication implies the process for the exchange of information i.e. verbal as well as non-verbal information within the confines of an organization. This organization constitutes the employees belonging from distinct social strata of the society. Thus, in order to effectively coordinate the activities within an organization, it is essential to enhance communication measures to ensure that there is unity and discipline in the organization. Also, effective communication is the only tool to achieve organizational objectives. Workplace communication may be affected by a variety of factors, i.e. the methods utilized for communication, content of the message, and frequency of the message and also the skills utilized to communicate the information. In other words, business relationships are quite different from traditional relationships since the hierarchy of organization alongside other factors place responsibility and accountability on certain individuals. Also, workplace ethics require communication of verbal as well as non-verbal communication in a closed setting where message needs to be communicated in a formal as well as in a non-formal manner. However, to reduce misinterpretations, a culture of effective communication needs to be developed where the employees and subordinated feel as comfortable while expressing their grievances as the management feels while communicating orders. Thus, this paper will aim at explaining how a workplace can be turned into a conductive environment where the efficiency enhances via two-way communication. Firstly, the method of communication has a deep impact on the workplace environment since how you communicate the message is more important than the actual message being communicated. It must be understood by the communication experts in the organization that one method of communication may not suit everyone. Thus, it is important to understand diversity and culture values of the employees and even the management. Furthermore, complicated tools and methods for communicating messages must be avoided. In other words the message must be constructed that it must be clear and simple, and yet sensitive to the cultural diversity in the workplace. Sometimes, pictorial tools may be used to better communicate the message so that it may be understood by everyone. Also, two-way communication must always be encouraged since that helps understand complex ideas and scenarios for better decision making in the future. Also, the employees must be given enough liberty and space to ask questions and even instigate discussions (Ettinger, Perfetto & Ettinger 2007). An example of a significant communication tool is recreational activities whereby the entire staff would get an opportunity to socialize and improve communication patterns. Thus, the method of communication is quite crucial to the success of the efficiency for an organization. Secondly, the method of communication must be coupled with effective yet clear content since it contains the crucial information. The content strategy must be designed in such a manner that the central message must not be overshadowed by irrelevant details and yet, it must not come across as insignificant and tedious. Furthermore, the amount of details must also be in accordance to the gravity of message and also in accordance to the capacity of the employees to absorb the message. Thus, the details should neither be too much nor too little. Also, use of jargons or insensitive slangs must be avoided in verbal as well as non-verbal communication. In verbal as well as non-verbal communication the content lies not just in the message being communicated, rather body language, tone of message along with other factors which signify which message is more important than the other one, along with other factors (Varner, Beamer & Beamer 2011). Thus, communicating the content is also carries a certain amount of content which is also one of the important factors in workplace communication. Furthermore, frequency of the message is also important in verbal as well as non verbal communication apparent in a workplace. In a few organizations, the organization goals and vision is communicated to an employee during the orientation session after which these perspectives aren’t discussed much. However, if the message central to the vision of the organization is somehow infiltrated in the formal as well as non-formal communication paradigms of an organization, it will add to the identity of the organization. Thus, a balanced communication strategy where the frequency is adequate to get the message across is important, and also to ensure that unnecessary details are being avoided (Quantanilla & Wahn 2011). Furthermore, another significant aspect of frequency is that the important message must not be held until the last minute since it may create confusion and grievances. Important pieces of information must be communicated beforehand and specific messages must be repeated in such a way that the distinct culture of the organization must be instilled in the individuals. This implies that the frequency of the messages isn`t an aspect of communication which can be ignored. Rather it must be utilized in such a way to reap maximum benefits. Also, skills to communicate the messages i.e. to communicate the messages verbally as well as non-verbally is the single most important constituent of workplace communication. The skills required to communicate a message to an individual differ from those require to communicate to a small group. Similarly, the skills required to communicate the messages to a large setting are also different. Furthermore, if a message is being conveyed to the subordinates, a firm posture and arrogant lifestyle may instigate the subordinates to reflect inappropriate behavior. At the same time, if the manager is skilled enough to act as a leader and motivator, the message would be communicated quite conveniently. Similarly, the subordinates must also be trained to communicate their messages to the management with clarity and ease. Also, the employees and the management should also understand the sentiments and the values of each others, which also comprise an element of skillful communication as workplace. In any case, it is quite necessary for the communicator or presenter responsible to communicate important messages using necessary skills in such a manner that in any way message doesn’t get distorted by wrong signals, tone of voice, body language, posture or any other such tools (Kite & Kay 2012). Furthermore, oratory and speaking power, along with a strong personality are also skills which must be polished. In other words, an organization must spend resources and time to polish the communication skills of the employees as doorway to success. Thus conclusively, Workplace communication implies the process for the exchange of information i.e. verbal as well as non-verbal information within an organization to ensure that significant messages are being circulated for smooth functioning. Thus, by using a few resources, a workplace can be turned into a conductive idea machine where two-way communication ensures result oriented environment.
