The evaluation of the leadership style will be based on different characteristics which Ron Sim shows, the different source of power and influence that helped him to carry out his leadership, the leadership traits which was visible and the type of leader Ron Sim is. This will thereby help to understand the different dimensions based on which OSIM because successful and were able to transform the business. This will also bring an important understanding of the role of leaders in projects and the manner leaders cab shape the projects so that it becomes successful. This will thereby help to learn the important traits which leaders need to show so that they become successful over a longer period of time. Characteristics of leadership style demonstrated by Ron Sim Ron Sim denotes various characteristics of different leadership style while looking to carry out the different functions. The different characteristics of different leadership styles has helped Ron Sim to carry out the different functions at different times and ensures hat overall effectiveness can be achieved in it. On the forefront Ron Sim denotes different characteristics of charismatic leader as he was enthusiastic, self confident and able to clearly communicate with the employees. This is evident from the wide scale changes which were done and the manner in which employees were confident to work under him (Clegg, Kornberger & Pitsis, 2012). The spread of the business over 28 countries highlights that he was confident and enthusiastic to carry out business elsewhere. In addition to it the ability to integrate people from different culture and place helped them to gain local responsiveness and provided an opportunity where the business transformed into a bigger one. This was supported by the fact that Ron Sim demonstrated transformational leader where he looks to empower employees even at lower levels so that they are able to carry out the different functions in the most effective manner. This helped to provide the employees with the confidence they were looking for and shaped the manner in which different decisions were taken within the business horizon. The transformational leadership quality can further be seen from the fact that Ron Sim looked at using the philosophy of 3R’s which denotes being resourceful, resilient and rebuild. The three pillars which are crucial for the success of OSIM helped them to diversify and grow over different areas and destinations which has thereby provided the opportunity through which better business returns were achieved. Ron Sim was also able to highlight skills of a strategist as after Ron Sim took over OSIM he made certain changes by the philosophy of 3R’s which denotes being resourceful, resilient and rebuild. The three pillars which are crucial for the success of OSIM helped them to diversify and grow over different areas and destinations which have thereby provided the opportunity through which better business returns were achieved. This was a move which was taken strategically and shaped the style of working culture (Fernando, Dharmage, & Almeida, 2008) This thereby clearly denotes that Ron Sim demonstrated different skills and traits of different leadership style which helped to ensure that the different situations were handled in a different manner and provided the opportunity through which the business was better controlled. This helped to use the resources in the best possible manner and provided an opportunity to be skilful and ensure better growth rates. Source of power and influence Ron Sim apply Ron Sim to be successful and to ensure that the fortunes of OSIM provides different rewards used different source of power and influence which can be easily seen from the personality traits which were denoted by him. On the forefront it is clearly evident that Ron Sim used reward power for getting the best out of his employees. Ron Sim developed a process where the employees were compensated properly for the different work which was undertaken by them. Ron Sim linked performance to reward which helped them to ensure that employees were differentiated and based on it employees were compensated. While looking to do so training and other things which will help to strengthen the employees working culture was used so that employees behaviour can be changed and the business based on it will be able to garner maximum results from it. In addition to using the reward power Ron Sim also used coercive power where employees not performing the task up to the desired level were punished. Having a mix of both reward and punishment helped to bring about a complete change and transformation as employees were provided opportunity to improve their performance but at the same time were compensated if they didn’t deliver superior results. To ensure that employees were able to carry out the work diligently proper training was provided to the employees and the overall mechanism was developed in such a manner that the business looked at maximizing the gains. Ron Sim was influential and was able to bring about a change in the behaviour of employees so that they can contribute positively towards the organization. This can be seen from the fact that the three pillars i.e. 3R are which denotes being resourceful, resilient and rebuild was being used in the most skilful manner. This had helped Ron Sim as he was able to ensure that the employees by following those were able to change their mechanism of work and were resilient to the dynamic environment (Dimitroff, Schmidt & Bond 2005). The fact that Ron Sim was heard within the organization and employees were willing to listen to him also shows his ability to influence people so that they can work according to the predetermined goals. Ths thereby helped the business to ensure that a process which was mixed with different power and influence shaped the manner in which the business performed. Ron Sim was able to highlight different directions and traits through which the business was transformed and helped to bring the best out of employees thereby creating the required room and scope through which overall business productivity multiplied and efficiency were achieved. This was in addition to the fact that he was willing to undergo changes and was ready to rebuild the working scenario by making ramifications shows his risk appetite and was willing to test new things so that better results can be achieved in a shorter duration of time. Thirdly, Ron Sim was a charismatic leader as he was enthusiastic, self confident and able to clearly communicate with the employees. Further, since the business had grown in over 1100 outlets in over 28 countries it was not possible for a single individual to take decisions and control the business from one perspective. The need was to pass on decision making ability to others within the organization so that based on the local needs and requirements people can take different decisions which will ensure the long term success. This was clearly evident in case of Ron Sim which was important for his success as his transformational ability helped him to bring the required change in the behaviour of employees through which better use of resources were achieved. In addition to it Ron Sim was able to guide the workforce and motivate them to work for the organization. This was possible due to the strong bench strength and the ability of the business to restructure their business as the need appeared (Herman, 2007). This helped to motivate the employees as the opinion of employees were heard in different matters and issues and ensured that employees felt a part of the organization and were able to contribute positively through which the overall level of satisfaction increased. Ron Sim because of the transformational skills was thereby able to bring a complete change and his leadership style matched with the business needs and requirements. This helped him to perform better and provided an opportunity where the business was better controlled and the employees were happy to carry out the different roles assigned to them leading towards his success and the success of the organization. Conclusion This essay evaluates the leadership style which Ron Sim demonstrates while working at OSIM. The evaluation of the leadership style is based on different characteristics which Ron Sim shows, the different source of power and influence that helped him to carry out his leadership, the leadership traits which was visible and the type of leader Ron Sim is.
