? Emotional Marketing Introduction Human beings have psychological affection with things or objects they posses (Evans, 2010). This attraction is developed from satisfaction obtained through use of such objects. Satisfaction is achieved through efficiency of performance of those objects and their physical features (Wittkower, 2008). Therefore, different things should portray human feelings towards them from the way they handle them. They also serve the role of manifesting the owners’ status in the society (Norman, 2004). Therefore, marketers who rely on social media as a marketing avenue should invoke human feelings in order to appeal to them to purchase them. Experience Design According to Norman (2004) human beings develops psychological attraction to different things depending on the way they interact with them in everyday life. Different items play different roles and influence the way their owners perceive them. Norman further argues that those who possess such items are envious of them and respect for the purpose they serve. Therefore, the ways in which different things are useful influence the individuals’ emotional attraction to those items. Such items should be designed in such a way that they will be able to serve their intended purpose. Norman further suggest that greater efficiency of different items to serve the purpose they were meant to serve will attract greater affection from those who posses them. Some items also reveal social and economic status of individuals. These items becomes valuable to such individuals by the virtue of personal memories they generate to people who posses them (Norman, 2004). These items may be kept for remembrance of previous occurrences though they may serve any other purpose in the human life. They may appear useless to other people, but they are very essential to those who possess them. Therefore, such people feel intensely attached to those items which invoke their feelings about some past encounters. According to Norman (2004), the functionality of objects according to human outlook influences their psychological affection towards those objects. Norman argues that individual insight determines how they interact with different things. For example, a person expects a machine to function in a certain way and incase it fails to do so, this may result to emotional detachment. It is for this reason that Norman states those machines such as computers and others which people interact with on a day to day life should be designed with emotions to echo the human feelings. However, since these machines are used for specific purposes only, they will have a limit on extent to which they can forge human feelings. They will only influence human emotions to the extent in which they anticipated to perform a certain job. In essence, the author is implying that human feelings should be reflected in the kind of items they possess and in the way they handle and display those possessions (Norman, 2004). These activities will manifest human emotional attraction to those items they own. Similarly, the efficiency of performance of the things we use will influence the psychological attraction of the user towards them. When objects are functioning effectively, they appeal to their users who then develop close intimacy with those items. However, if those items fail to perform as expected, they will cause annoyance to the user who loses emotional feelings for them and may even smash them. The Philosopher's Tool Kit When people listen to the others talking or other sources of sounds, they definitely hear what they would like to hear. Though there are many sounds emanating from various sources at the same time, individuals become so discerning with what they want to listen to and will filter out things of less concern to them. The sense of hearing becomes an instrument which enables individuals to figure themselves in the public domain. Through hearing, individuals appreciate the beauty of different things and are able to like or dislike various things from which they receive the sounds. Hearing becomes an indispensable apparatus of which people weigh themselves and their social feelings. When people are alone, different sounds reflect communities in their privacy. However, sounds in the public acts as mirrors in which reflect individual’s lives. IPod mobile phones are an example of devices which assists us to get in touch with other people from all walks of life. They have improved interaction between the people from different regions. Through the use of iPod mobile phones, people distinguish others in different social, economic and political classes. When exchanging their conversations, individuals perceive others in different ways from previous interactions with those people. However, mobile phones have been perceived as devices which are functioning with reservations. Although these gadgets are improving the way people connect with their friends and relatives. Looking at the other aspect of telephone conversations, mobile phone devices have limited physical interactions of people from different places hence when conversing, individuals forms perceptions about those who they are conversing with. According to Wittkower (2008) iPod mobile phones have been transformed into different objects which imitate the original iPod models. However, these imitations create the figure ideal iPods in the minds of the users. This creates a community of iPod users by acting as a unifying factor. The ability of individuals to identify themselves with particular group results to a community based on universal sharing of material, languages and so on. People sharing similar characteristics like interacting and form a close bond. The individual identity is determined by the characteristics they possess (Wittkower , 2008). Just in the same way iPod mobile products are known to possess some qualities which are not found in other unrelated items, individuals can be classified in a specific group by virtual of their similar features. Though different objects may differ in many ways, they possess some attributes which are common in other related products. This forms the basis for the classification of individual items or groups. According to Wittkower (2008) service and fulfillment a person obtains from things they use or interact with influences they psychological attraction towards those things. This makes those who used them remember them for the service they offer to the users. Therefore, usability and the fulfillment is another imperative aspect for categorizing different items. Even people who come from diverse environment may be categorized according to their personality. This may show similarity even if those people do not have any close correlation at all. This may be the case even if the use of the item had harmful impact on the user. Under such a circumstance, their images are engraved in the memory of those who were hurt and will remember them as items which do not have the capacity to meet client’s needs. Selling a Product--Selling Yourself According to Evans, (2010) social media marketers should select the right key words to include in their outlines. This will ensure that the information they are placing in the social media are accessible and relevant to those who will read them. This will require the marketers to use appropriate strategies to ensure they attract as many clients to their sites as possible. They can achieve this by utilizing efficient means to link their websites with those of other marketers of similar commodities. This is why it essential for the marketers to ensure they have the right contents for their websites. The marketers have no power to regulate the kind of discussions going around the social media about their products (Evans, 2010). Therefore, they should ensure they have the right contents for media advertisements. This will ignite a discussion among the clients through social media about the company’s products. If the marketers had selected the right marketing approach, they will be able to link with different clients hence increase the market of their products. One of the major challenges facing the social media marketers is the ability to win the trusts of the clients. Most of the clients are no longer fascinated by mails or vouchers sent by the marketers as a way of attracting them. Most of the clients have learnt to ignore such advertisements hence marketing it tough for the marketers to win clients through social media. The marketers should understand the emotions of the clients and develop approaches to enable them win the favor of the clients (Evans, 2010). From past encounters, there are a few clients who have trust for the social media announcement. Evans further adds that most clients feel insecure when sharing personal information with strangers and may mistake companies’ advertisements for cheat. He claims that in order for the marketers to succeed in their operation, they should ensure that they have selected the most appropriate selling tactics that they will apply in online promotion. In addition, they will have to invest they time and resources in winning trust of the clients. They have to use different strategies such as establishing friendship with users of the social media and ensure they participate in sharing on different issues with different clients. This will build intimacy hence trust among the group members. Later on, the marketers can use that opportunity to introduce various subjects relating to their products and then leave the group members to discuss about it. If the product receives a positive compliment from the group members, this information will spread rapidly through intertwined relationships through social media to reach more clients. Once the marketers reach at this point, they will be able to enjoy the benefit of their effort. Conclusion Human emotions feelings towards their possessions are portrayed in the way they handle those things. This affection result from the unique physical attraction and efficiency in which they are useful to the user. Different objects manifest different social and economic status of those who possess them. Similarly, these objects develop a culture of people who own similar things to create a community based on shared socio-economic ranks. The ability of online marketers to win market for their commodities will be determined by their ability to invoke the feelings of the potential buyers to develop emotional feelings towards seller’s commodities.
